The need for extra living and entertaining space spurred this poolhouse addition. A preexisting, nonconforming low ceiling garage was converted into a poolhouse with a kitchen and bathroom. The space was submerged to gain headroom, and open directly out to a sunken pool with separate spa. All elements are incorporated within low stone walls that define different outdoor living areas – sunning, dining, gardening. Fish fountain on the main pool wall provides ambient sound. Solar panels were installed on south facing roof of poolhouse. Small property is maximized by placing pool equipment in basement of poolhouse.
